Our Why

“What does Gioia mean?”, many of you have asked. Gioia simply means “joy” in Italian. But for us this means so much more than that: it's the core of this business, as we've made it our purpose to bring joy to whoever eats our desserts. This goes beyond baking a simple confection - it’s about feeding your souls with what we believe is the best ingredient - Gioia.

ABOUT US

We are bake-to-order business located in Miami, FL. We are family owned, women run and together with my mom, aunt and small but mighty team have been sharing joy through desserts for the past 10 years.

Casa Gioia literally translates to ‘house of joy’ in Italian and was born out of the necessity of making a living. My parents had just divorced, I was cut off financially and right out of culinary school, and no one wanted to hire me.

So, I took $50 left of my monthly allowance and bought the ingredients to bake my first dessert: pecan pie – my mom’s favorite. Little did I know that pie would be the beginning of a wild, beautiful, and successful journey.

Our relationship with nostalgia started with pies and cookies, but we have expanded to much more: cakes. Very few people can refuse cake. It’s moist, fluffy, and delicious it is the ultimate comfort food.

After many years of our customers’ requests, we decided to dip our toes into the cake world.

In 2021 we introduced our first line of specialty cakes and quickly became a hit. Just like our pies and cookies, our cakes reminded them of that special someone’s baking.

Although we still offer that original pecan pie for the holidays, and our Nutella chocolate chip cookies in our everyday menu, we have found an immense joy in specialty cakes and custom cakes. We absolutely love to be a part of your special occasions!
